OOTD Spring Time Wear| Taupe Plaid Capri Pants x Light Denim Shirt

This shirt was given in collaboration with Not Sorry Apparel. All opinions are my own.

So I realize I have not worn a true spring time wear on my blog.  Old school light denim shirt and plaid cropped capri pants was the ootd, last Sunday. Literally I married two different brands together and came up with a fun light look featuring my favorite brand Not Sorry Apparel. To be honest, I did not know this outfit was going to come out so cute.

I have to admit I was jumping all over the place with my wardrobe. Summer time fine looks, then I was back to transitional pieces… idk I was so confused.  It is super hard to wear a true spring time outfit in Michigan. Michigan weather has been know to be very bipolar in the transitional seasons.  On today’s post I will be showing off my true spring time look.

Taupe Plaid Cropped Capri from Target made this outfit !

Honestly, I was not sure where I was going with this outfit. I had two different pieces that I did not consider to put together at all. First, I purchase these taupe plaid cropped capri pants from Target. They have a fairly new brand called Who What Wear, who had really stylish chic pieces. I ran across these cropped pants in a size 16, available in plus size. my first initial glance I was not sure that they would fit. When I tried them on in the fitting I fell madly in love with the fit. It is so had to find structure pants to fit my wide hips and small waist properly. Another pro to these pants is that they stretch and feature discreet zipper on the side. At Target the pants retail for $29.99! Target has been my jam for quite some time! Coming through with that fire!

Light Vintage Denim Shirt from Not Sorry Apparel

Lastly, I completed this look with a light denim top. You can say this was someone’s granny shirt. It definitely had a vintage feel to it. It featured pearl accents, very reminiscent of a country day. On the back of the shirt “Detroit Not Sorry” is print. Again I love this shirt because I carrying my city in my back! Denim shirt was upcyle by Not Sorry Apparel. If you want to know more about upcycling fashion, check my post out here.

Sidenote: Have fun with my accessories with this outfit. I played with a lot of different metals: gold, pearl, and silver accents

Taste of Summer| Hawaiian Shirt from Not Sorry Apparel

Taste of Summer| Hawaiian Shirt from Not Sorry Apparel

This shirt was given in collaboration with Not Sorry Apparel. All opinions are my own.

Festival season is in full swing. If I was at Coachella right now I would be wearing this Hawaiian shirt, representing my city, and being unapologetic about. I love to look at all the fun outfits and colorful look that are inspired from Coachella and all the other festivals to come.

Now when I initially went to the Not Sorry Apparel’s shop, a festival inspired look was not on my mind. I was clueless… I had not the slightest idea on what I wanted to do. So I started flipping through the racks and there it was.  I stop right at this Hawaiian, tropical print shirt. The light went off in my head and my inspirational juices started to flow. PARADISE!

fullsizeoutput_2c3cSo with this look  I decided to skip over spring and jumping straight into to warm summer vibes. This over sized Hawaiian shirt from Not Sorry Apparel is just want I need to put me back in my fun-loving spirit.  Definitely having a tropical state of mind!! Yo So this weekend my mom and I went downtown to get a couple of photos of this festive top. If you didn’t know I partner up with Not Sorry Apparel showcasing a street style look.  Not Sorry Apparel know as a brand that rebrand and upcycle pre-love clothing to help rid the world of pollution! Please make sure you check them out on Instagram @notsorryapparel and NotSorryApparel.com

So yes I have sprang forward, giving y’all a taste of summer, honey.  I might not be at Coachella or on topical island… but I giving y’all a bit of paradise in the city. Natural and tropical/ botanical prints is on trend.  So I naturally thought a Hawaiian shirt would go well with cream color linen pants. It not so warm in Detroit just yet so I decided to go for thicker bottom. So I went for these Universal Thread cream denim jean from Target. These jeans are high-waisted jeans that fit perfectly to my silhouette. The jeans are super stretchy and provide a comfortable fit. I got these jean in a regular fit however for my curvy sis you can get the same exact jeans in plus size! Such a great fit and they retail at $27.99. Let now focus on the shoes. I added to the outfit were yellow slingback block heel sandals from Old Navy. These shoes were also comfortable and easy to wear. You will see these shoes in a lot more outfits for the season.

The last element added to this look were plant inspired gold jewelry and natural aesthetics. The gold monstera leaf drop earrings from Forever 21 was just want I needed to complete this tropical look.  I purchase these roughly a year ago so I do not remember how much I spent on them. However if you are looking for a similar, check this pair from Forever21. To add a extra kick to the fit I added my favorite new bamboo pendant necklace from Trinkets and Such. If you want to learn more about the necklace, check out previous post.  If you want to see a post on all my favorite jewelry, let me know in the comment section. Lastly, the structural straw circular bag was the natural mix that I was looking for. I purchase this bag for $25 at Burlington’s. No need to spend all your money on trends.

Weekend Street Style Fashion featuring Not Sorry Apparel

Weekend Street Style Fashion featuring Not Sorry Apparel

Now, I know I should be talking about spring fashion wear, however it is still cold in the city. I have to keep it real for y’all. I had so many things to do…. 4 photoshoots, lunch meetings, and finding a gift for my dad. As I was walking up and down the city streets  I was keeping warm with my over sized double-breasted coat from Not Sorry Apparel.  The over sized coats has been in style for winter months, and finally I got my hands on one.  You can’t miss what the coat says on the bottom right hand side. “Detroit Not Sorry”. This coats stands out.  Y’all know how I feel about Detroit.

This coat came in handy and I received a lot of compliments on the coat as I was walking. So I will be wearing my heavy coat until the degrees on my phone in the morning says 45 degrees or more. Not sorry at all about it.

Speaking of not being sorry I am so happy to announce that I am a brand ambassador for Not Sorry Apparel. Not Sorry Apparel is a lifestyle brand for people who are not sorry for being themselves. This brand is women owned and based in Detroit. On top of being unapologetic they are eco-friendly brand. I learn from them that the fashion industry is the second cause to pollution in the world. FashionLayn Outfit Deets….

When I have a lot of things to do during the weekend I like to go for a simplistic classic look.  This look carried me throughout the day. My capsule wardrobe consist of white crew neck  t-shirt, denim jeans, blazers, and ankle boots. If you want to know more about creating a capsule wardrobe, let me know in the comment section.  For the weekend I reached for a simple white t-shirt and paired it with my favorite medium wash jeans & and poppy red lip.  I mention in the previous post about snakeskin boots that brings a wild card to the classic party. These elements are all timeless to me.
