How I Stay Safe During the Pandemic?

This post is sponsored by The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services

Spread Hope, Not COVID is my new motto living in Michigan. My home state, as well as the entire country and the world has been devastated by this pandemic. It was so crazy how we all were living our best lives, for it all to come to a total stand still. Our lifestyle has changed and now we have to go everywhere with a mask on, as well as keep our distance from one another.

Well, I would rather be totally uncomfortable wearing a mask than to have to be in the hospital on a ventilator. In today’s post I am sharing how I have been keeping myself and others SAFE during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, I’m also sharing other ways we can make sure we are doing our part for ourselves and everyone else.

Listen…. COVID-19 has definitely turned our world upside down. It’s our new reality and we have to make sure we are doing what we need to make sure we stay safe. We cannot afford to go back. I have been doing many things to ensure that I maintain my physical and mental wellbeing. Besides, I don’t want to get my family and friends sick. So this is what I do:

How Do I Stay Safe During the Pandemic?

1: Hand Washing: One of the most important things that I can do is make sure my hands are clean at all times. THIS IS A MUST! I use hot water and soap and wash my hands for 20 seconds. I like to sing the Outkast So Fresh So Clean hook in my head to make sure I get the timing correct. HAHA. I make sure my hands are washed at all times. Before I eat. Of course, when I use the bathroom and before I touch my face and nose. In addition, I use hand sanitizer when water and soap aren’t available.

2: Mask: I make sure I wear my MASK everywhere I go. No excuses! To ensure I am not getting my family or friends sick I make sure I wear my mask anytime I am out and about. Michiganders are required to wear a mask in indoor spaces and crowded outdoor spaces. Masks and face coverings can help to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by about 70%.

3: Social Distancing: I love to be around good energy and good people. It is hard, but stay at least 6 feet from other people.

4: Avoid Touching Eyes & Nose: The next best thing is to avoid touching our face all together. But if you need to, before you touch your eyes and nose, make sure your hands are washed with soap and water.

5: Eating Immune Boosting Foods: Keeping your immune system in tip top shape is another important factor. The best foods to keep your immunity up are ginger, citrus fruit, turmeric, green tea, garlic, and broccoli. I make sure I get these foods in my diet daily.

6: Meditation: Lastly, COVID-19 has definitely taken a toll on my mental health. This illness is so unpredictable and full of unknowns, which causes me to stress out. We all know stress does not do us any good. So to help me focus on my breathing and keep calm, I meditate.

Overall, this pandemic has caused hysteria, but we are pushing through. We can’t afford to go back so we must continue to do what is asked of us to slow the spread of this illness.
