Chapter 5… May Plan and Goals

Chapter 5… May Plan and Goals

The time is literally flying by. Sheesh I am trying to hold on to all my edges. LOL  This time around last year I was dreading May because I had to get my wisdom teeth extraction. Well now I got so much to look forward to this month. The month of April was a total roller coaster. It was up and down, but I ended up right where I needed to be.  God really was working on me overtime,  and that I am so humble and grateful for.  Yes ladies, let get this month started on the right foot.

Fashion Note

I don’t have a lot of new trends, fashion alerts to post this month. As a Detroiter, we are still stuck in that in between weather. Not really knowing what to do, or how to be stylish when the weather is bipolar. One minute it is super cold, then not so warm, or then it too hot to handle. LOL  If you want to see a post on how to style yourself during the in between seasons, let me know in the comment section below.

FASHION REPORT: According to May’s issue of InStyle Magazine a few style trends and alerts to hop on this month are beachy, and bohemian theme patterns, prints, and style. Natural patterns such as crochet and fishnet looks are on trend. In addition, make sure you add a straw purse or beach bag to your collection this month. You use a straw bag for your spring time looks and infuse them in you summer, beachy looks as well. If you are looking for inexpensive straw bag, take a peek at the accessories and bags over at SHEIN.  To get back on track, souvenir inspired jewelry are making an appearance in today’s spring/ summer fashion.

If you are more of classic, timeless girl then you should keep your eye out for cargo pants. Speaking of cargo pants, maybe you can try out new colors, and patterns this time around, instead of you classic olive and khaki color. I am thinking abut experimenting with cargo pants on my body type. What are you thoughts on cargo pants? Let me know in the comment section below. So yes, there is so much fashion other things to look forward to coming to the blog!

Blog Note

So sis, I have a lot going on for the month of May. This is the first time ever that I have back to back collaborations/ sponsored post coming. I feel like my hard work, dedication, and consistency is starting to pay off. I took myself serious and people are finally reaching out to me. Remember… Never stop reaching out to brand and pitching. “Close mouths don’t get fed”. I still pitch 2 to 3 brands each month; I am so proud of that.

The cherry on top of pie is that I am walking in fashion show at the Michigan’s International Women Show this Thursday! Guess the brand? Well you have to make sure you are following me on Instagram and Facebook to see who I am walking for.  I was so shocked and filled with so much joy when they reached out to me! Make sure you subscribe to FashionLayn. Recap will definitely making it way on the blog soon.

Yes, I have a lot of amazing content to share with you this month. It is so amazing to be able to align myself with great brands and companies that I believe in. So yes I am droppin gems for all of you. So strap on you seat belt and stay tuned y’all

Personal Note

On a personal note, I noticed last month when I had my little health scared that my thoughts ran rapid. I am fine by the way.  Anyway,  I was overthinking, I working overtime, and I was not getting the right amount of rest. Basically, I was trying to do too much at one time. This led me to getting sick towards the end of April. I was unable to eat, and my throat was killing me. Anyway I finally listen to body, after she starting screaming at me, that I need to take some time off and just rest. That what I did was take a nap and woke up when my body was ready to wake. So for the month of May, I am going to focus on listening to my body. And you should to sis! This is my temple and I have to make sure I care for it right. By eating right, and drinking lots of water, and working out. Real life note: I am still working out time to get to the gym. Take your time and get all the rest you need. This month I want to make more time for me and  my wellness. Here are my personal goals this month

  1. Drink 64 oz of water daily
  2. Try packing my lunch 3 days out of the week
  3. Pitch 2 to 3 brands this month
  4. Wash my comforter set on Friday
  5. Going to grocery every other week to stock up on produce
  6. Take 10-20 minutes just for myself only. No blog, No social media, just me !

What are you looking forward to in May? What are your plans and wellness goals this month?

Yellow is My It Color | Wrap Dress from Target

Yellow is My It Color | Wrap Dress from Target

Yellow is my ish.  It captures everyone’s attention…. and if you know me then you know I love little attention. Yellow is luminous and it loves my complexion. I always get a lot of compliments when I wear yellow. “Yellow looks so good on you.” So, this yellow wrap dress from Target was put in my cart with the upmost quickness!  Yes, this dress is from brand called, A New Day that exclusively sold at Target.  The brand focus it attention on everyday wear. Yes this dress you can be worn up or down, everyday. I must say it this brand has been my go to, and the reason why my love for Target has grown so strong.

When I have a day off from work, I always find myself at Target. It like a off day tradition  now. Get a day off, drive to Target, Simple. LOL  The struggle is real in Target. I go in for one item and walk out broke, every time. Do you over spend in Target, if so let me know in the comment section?

A few weeks ago, I came across this summer infused wrap dress from A New Day.  The yellow hue alone had this dress in my cart. It is soft, stretchy, and versatile; all the things that makeup a great dress. The wrap dress features a v-neckline and unique side wrap that flatters any waistline. It must say it snatched my waist up sis, giving my hourglass shape a pop.

This dress can be worn up or down. You can add scrappy sandal with cross body bag to give it a laid back appeal. On the flip side, add a pump, hoop earrings with a blazers… blazing the night life. This dress retail for $25 bucks.

To bring more attention to the dress I decided to pair this dress with red block heels, another piece from A New Day.  Such a great color combination. Yellow and red compliment each other so well since they favor on the color wheel. This shoe added a complimentary pop of color to the yellow dress. Also, these shoes are easy to walk!

Taste of Summer| Hawaiian Shirt from Not Sorry Apparel

Taste of Summer| Hawaiian Shirt from Not Sorry Apparel

This shirt was given in collaboration with Not Sorry Apparel. All opinions are my own.

Festival season is in full swing. If I was at Coachella right now I would be wearing this Hawaiian shirt, representing my city, and being unapologetic about. I love to look at all the fun outfits and colorful look that are inspired from Coachella and all the other festivals to come.

Now when I initially went to the Not Sorry Apparel’s shop, a festival inspired look was not on my mind. I was clueless… I had not the slightest idea on what I wanted to do. So I started flipping through the racks and there it was.  I stop right at this Hawaiian, tropical print shirt. The light went off in my head and my inspirational juices started to flow. PARADISE!

“Find paradise wherever I go”

fullsizeoutput_2c3cSo with this look  I decided to skip over spring and jumping straight into to warm summer vibes. This over sized Hawaiian shirt from Not Sorry Apparel is just want I need to put me back in my fun-loving spirit.  Definitely having a tropical state of mind!! Yo So this weekend my mom and I went downtown to get a couple of photos of this festive top. If you didn’t know I partner up with Not Sorry Apparel showcasing a street style look.  Not Sorry Apparel know as a brand that rebrand and upcycle pre-love clothing to help rid the world of pollution! Please make sure you check them out on Instagram @notsorryapparel and

So yes I have sprang forward, giving y’all a taste of summer, honey.  I might not be at Coachella or on topical island… but I giving y’all a bit of paradise in the city. Natural and tropical/ botanical prints is on trend.  So I naturally thought a Hawaiian shirt would go well with cream color linen pants. It not so warm in Detroit just yet so I decided to go for thicker bottom. So I went for these Universal Thread cream denim jean from Target. These jeans are high-waisted jeans that fit perfectly to my silhouette. The jeans are super stretchy and provide a comfortable fit. I got these jean in a regular fit however for my curvy sis you can get the same exact jeans in plus size! Such a great fit and they retail at $27.99. Let now focus on the shoes. I added to the outfit were yellow slingback block heel sandals from Old Navy. These shoes were also comfortable and easy to wear. You will see these shoes in a lot more outfits for the season.

The last element added to this look were plant inspired gold jewelry and natural aesthetics. The gold monstera leaf drop earrings from Forever 21 was just want I needed to complete this tropical look.  I purchase these roughly a year ago so I do not remember how much I spent on them. However if you are looking for a similar, check this pair from Forever21. To add a extra kick to the fit I added my favorite new bamboo pendant necklace from Trinkets and Such. If you want to learn more about the necklace, check out previous post.  If you want to see a post on all my favorite jewelry, let me know in the comment section. Lastly, the structural straw circular bag was the natural mix that I was looking for. I purchase this bag for $25 at Burlington’s. No need to spend all your money on trends.

For the Love of Gold featuring Trinkets and Such

For the Love of Gold featuring Trinkets and Such

This post was done in collaboration with Trinkets and Such – but trust, all opinions are my own. #trinketsandsuch™ #sponsored

Do you love jewelry? Lately, I have had my eyes focused on jewelry and accessories. Those little dainty pieces alone can add so much class and flavor to a look.  Did you know I am a big fan of gold jewelry?!  I was exposed to gold jewelry at a young age. I was once allergic to costume jewelry so the only thing I could wear was 14kt gold. Since then I have grown out of my allergy and I can wear whatever I want. However, my love of gold jewelry never went anywhere.  It increased over the years because the selection has expanded.  Anklets, bracelets, earrings, and chains. So I almost lost my mind when I was given a chance to collaborate with Trinkets and Such, that has so many beautiful GOLD pieces and more that I admire.

Trinkets and Such is a gift shop for taste makers based in the city of Detroit! Curated by Daisha, a Detroit native, prides her brand on giving shoppers quality collections, and effortless essentials. What really make them stand out from the rest are their hand stamp semi fine jewelry and the complimenting pieces. On today’s blog post I will be sharing my love of gold through these super cute statements from Trinkets!

I guess you can say I am the millennial version of  Austin Power’s Goldmember. Does anyone remember that movie? LOL Gold represent so much to me… success, elegance, and confidences. I love it! Also,  gold jewelry really complement my complexion.  It add warmth and completes all my looks. So is not surprise how easily I fell in love with the bamboo pendant.  This necklace can stand on it’s one or you can layer it up with other simplistic necklaces or a hand stamped bar necklace. I am thinking about layer this necklace with other. Do you want to see how I layers my necklaces? Let me know in the comment section below. I really love this necklace because it is not super heavy on my neck. Also the pendant comes with adjustable chain which is a plus.  You can get any letter of your choice. Of course I went with the letter “A” for Alayna, my name. 🙂   You can get this necklace for $22. Not bad at all! My favorite!

Lastly, I love earrings.  These linked earrings are an edgy and cool addition to my everyday street style fashion. I feel like this earrings can bring value to white shirt and jeans kinda day.  Maybe you can add them to a polish look. You know! Anyway these earrings definitely stand alone. The earrings are super lightweight and they come with disc earrings backs. You can get these earrings for $12 dollars!
