Top 10 Things I Hate About Blogging

Top 10 Things I Hate About Blogging

You know… being a fashion/lifestyle blogger and an influencer sucks at time for me. Being an online entrepreneur is hard to maintain. I love it, but I really don’t know why I do it? Why do I put myself through the stress?  I have to think of content, schedule content, plan photo shoots, drive, be active on all my social media accounts, and so much more. It can get really stressful at times.  I reached my breaking point in my career after I had 4 photo shoots planned last weekend (2 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday– back to back).  Let me be honest, my feeling have been building up after 4 years into. I started noticing how people change and sometimes you don’t get the recognition. I went to Instagram and unleashed my feeling. I even got some of y’all involved in conversation.  I did not notice how many bloggers were feeling the same way. So in today’s post I want to talk about the things that are never really discussed in blogging. The cons of blogging. Today I am listing  my top 10 things that I hate about blogging.

The Cons of Blogging

(Disclaimer: This is only my opinion)

1. Creative Depression

Creating content is fun, but what happens when you run out of things to create and talk about? Constantly creating can leave a blogger exhausted. I hate this!  I have to remind myself that it is okay to not have a clue. II stop putting so much pressure. When I apply to much pressure I become uninspired and then my blog suffers.  So now I focus on scheduling out my content. Also I look at old post that responded well and expand on that. I also get my audience involved. You guys give me some great ideas.

2. No One Cares About You

Trying to get people to pay attention is super hard. You have to put a lot of hard work into tailoring your blog for your audience.  I have to constantly remind myself….Its not about you sis. You are a problem solvers! If you are not trying to help solve a problem for your audience then in all honestly they don’t care!  This is something that I struggle with all the time. Somethings I want to go to my blog and type out my feelings, however I have to remember that this blog is not for me anymore.

3. Endless War With Algorithms

I don’t know about you but trying to get head of the algorithms on Instagram is an endless war. It always changing.. sometimes for the good, but it seems like it always for the worst. Currently, not everyone that follows me can see my post. That results in less likes and engagement. As a blogger it is important for us to get our audience to engage with us. Likes are great but engagement is so much more important. The more people engage with your post the better it will perform. Being on Instagram is like a job now and I hate it!

4. Free Content

As a blogger of 4 years I have noticed that endless amount of brands reaching out and asking for free content. Now let me be clear I am not totally against “free content”. However, it becomes annoying when they give you all these guidelines with no compensation. Post this here and put that there. I hate that!

5. You Can’t Sit With Us.

Being a blogger can be a lonely field to be in.  So it is very important to me to try to find some like-minded bloggers. I noticed that some people really don’t deal with you unless they can gain something from you. Also, if you don’t have the numbers to match then you can’t sit with us. No clout no love.  Yes the blogging community can be “cliqued up” and this bothers me so much. It really nothing that I can do with that. I try to align myself with bloggers that really want to build a relationship with me.

6. Being Overlooked

I swear I see the see the same faces over and over on social media. Let me be clear there are some blogger that work very hard to get to where they are at and I am not trying to shade them. Not at all! However, it is very discouraging when you feel like you are being overlook based off followers. Can you give the small bloggers a chance?! Can you take a chance on me. Just know this… the right brand and business with align with you. Keep going those brands will notice us.

7. No “Real” Support

Simply people only support when it is benefiting them.  Those individual will do so much. Help you here and help you there. Soon as you say no…. where are they? Also, there a lot of dry haters. They really don’t want to see you succeed. I really hate this. As blogger you have keep your eyes open to this.

8. My Time Matters Too!

Blogging is a business. I might not sell an actual product but I provide a service to my audience… I am a problem solver. In addition, as a blogger we work with brands that have us on a time schedule as well. People forget that blogging is a business and that our  time matters too. Time is money! So when you respond late or show up late it affects what we got going. I am here to say that I want people to take bloggers more serious. I pride myself on being timely. I show up on time and respond with sense of urgency. It gets quite annoy when others do not do the same.

9. Taking Pictures

People think that blogging is so much fun when it comes to taking pictures. Do you know what we go through to get that photo? Do you know what the weather was like when I took this picture? It not always glitz and glamour. A lot of times we are doing this all by ourselves. We don’t have a team behind us. The only team that I have is my momma.

10. Blogging Success Does Not Come Fast

Blogging success may come fast for some blogger but not for everyone. Not every blogger make money in the first go round. This is such a hard and long process. You definitely will feel like your words are falling on deaf ears. But I hear to say just keep pushing forward. Over the course of time you will succeed.

“Blogging” is tough, but so are you !

I love being a blogger and I will not stop just because a few things I hate. I will not let any of these things stop me for being all that I can be as a blogger. You should not let the things that annoy you stop you from being great.

Event Recap: Femology Detroit Blogger Bash at Grand Circus!

Event Recap: Femology Detroit Blogger Bash at Grand Circus!

Last Sunday I went to event called “Blogger Bash” it was the first of it kind by Femology Detroit .  I heard all about this event through the last event I went to … remember the yoga event. This was the networking event for the season I had to be there.  fullsizeoutput_21f4 I have to be honest tho I was super nervous about going to this event because I am socially awkward. I felt like a little girl again going to new school.  Scared to put myself out there however The next thing I know I was talking and introducing myself to everyone.

Femology Detroit is a modern business workspace created for women to interact, work, and thrive! founded by Meagan Ward.. shout out to you sis !

This event took place at the Grand Circus. Soon as I walked on the floor I was in heaven.  Balloons, cotton candy, and vendors were everywhere. It was so LIT !  When first walked in I made my attention at the table filled with fruits, cupcakes, and cakes and so many other decadent treats to eat. Then there were cotton candy and yummy drinks.  Special Shout to Balloon Haus that had a beautiful  display of blue, lavender, and pink balloons. It was a highlight. My favorite in my opinion was the DJ. She was playing some of the latest hits. When Ciara’s song Level Up came on I had to dance!

Soon it was time for panels.  The panels consist of Detroit’s top bloggers, Youtubers, and influencers. They gave some real tea on how to level up on our consistency, engaging with out followers, and how to make sure we get all our coins in this  business. This event was what a new blogger, such as myself needed.  Networking was key at this event. I love the fact that dived in there and made some connects. SO sis be on the look I will be sending out some emails to get together for lunch in the futue .  To be honest I was stun to see how big our community is. To see so many women try to come up in their careers is awesome. Thank you Femology for that !

My Outfit deets…

I knew I was going to be at this event. However I was in bit of a dilemma. I was broke. I had no money. So this what I did.. I shop the clearance rack at  Target and found this $6 skirt. Then I shop my closet. You may have seen this off the shoulder top before, however I used it again. It fit perfectly with this skirt. Added a pop of color to my toes and feet with the pink block heel. It was perfect.  Awesome part of it all that I match the event ballon colors at the event.  Blue, Lavender, and pink Wow !

It’s July

It’s July

Just like this month issue of Essence.. “Take Back Your Joy.”  I was super inspired by the tune of magazine. Black women celebrating ways they found happiness and joy in there life and I think I need to focus my concentration. I need more joy, peace, and smiles. When I think of the month of July, I see celebration and happiness.

Fashion Note

This month I want to still focus on bring lots and lots of color. I still want to get into a bathing suit before we switch are attention to fall clothing.. You know it coming.  Also I want to try out 2 different brands that I never brought to the blog. Shein and Pretty Little Things.com. These online stores have plus size items that I heard a lot of good things about . I am so ready to try these stores !

Blog Note

This month I want to still focus on being a student. Focus my attention on learning more about blogging and bettering my platform. I also want to launch of few self care templates  this month. So stay tuned for self care templates they are coming this month for sure !! Lastly I am really excited for this event coming this month. Femology Detroit is having a event for bloggers ! Can’t wait to take pictures and network with people. Lol the business cards are packed !

Personal Note/ Goals

Its May !

Its May !

Yes its May the month I been dreading about since April. I schedule my wisdom teeth extraction for May 1st. Thus why this post is going up so late. According to the hat in the picture, I have been off duty ! I had plans to complete the day before my extraction however I was so terrified that I could not wrap my head around typing up a blog post.  With all that being said I faced my fear head on, tooth by tooth! Literally !So yes I have 4 teeth missing and I am in lot of pain. Thank God for Motrins lol.  Since getting my teeth pulled I been a little sad. I think my face looks different… well duh my cheeks are swollen! But I still feel like I don’t look the same.  I miss eating normal whole foods, and chewing lol. Nothing like a wisdom teeth extraction that make you appreciate small things like being able to eat. So to get out my mine off the negative let start brainstorming for the blog. No pain or discomfort last forever !

Fashion Note

On the fashion note this month we are going to keep it simple.  I noticed when I over think fashion and what Fashion trends I want to focus on they don’t get done. So this month I am going to bring something new when it comes to fashion. I have found some more gettin grown looks.

Blog Note

For the month of May I got a lot things going event wise when it comes to the blog. I have been so blessed the follow month that now Fashionlayn has been invited to couple of events from well know blogger and brand. Yes,  this month I am collaborating with a brand that I so excited to work with. I can not wait to show you who it is.  I am so thankful for the many opportunities that have been coming my way for the month of May.  I am learning that persistence is a major key alert. I understand that if I truly love and want something I have to work hard to get and be persistent. No time for slacking off. Yes my lovely readers yall will see of this on the blog ! On another note, when it comes to the blog I have been learning to be more engaging when it comes to social media.

Personal Note/ Goals

April was kinda stressful in my personal life. Fear is really crutch. When you focus on fear and being scared like it can ruin your whole mood. However, being scared did not stop me for complete my goals last month. I finish reading  The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. This book is so good that it is turning into a movie. I am more self aware of my actions and what I say… however still a work in progress. Lastly the wisdom teeth are gone and I am drinking more and more water everyday. Yes!!! So for the month of May I want to focus on nutrition, fitting in swimming suit…

  1. Being comfortable in my bare skin.  This month I want to take a picture in a swimsuit. he
  2. Finish reading Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi
  3. Learn how to stand in my mess and ask myself for forgiveness … Iyanla medicine
  4. Taking a break. Knowing when enough is enough. Too much of anything is not good.
  5. Plan out my finances better. So budget better. I am planning to read a book called Broke Millennial  by Erin Lowry to get me out of the check to check cycle.  I want financially stable before I turn 30 !

with all that being said stay focus ladies and don’t let pain stand in your way!

push forward
