New Hair, New Sweater, New Look… who is this ?I am feeling myself.  Lol I decided to take the casual approach last weekend. I enjoy being creative when it comes to fashion but somethings I appreciate my simple looks. To be honest this really how I dress all the time.  Everyday look !! Finally it is chilly enough in Detroit to rock a sweater. This weekend it was about 53 degrees… so me and mom took to the street of Downtown Detroit and walk up and down Gratiot Ave. We check out the local stores, and the record shop and enjoyed each others company.  Sidenote: If you are ever in Detroit, you have to visit Eastern Market to see all the local vendors and shops, and dope murals. Let me tell y’all something. I have always been by myself. I am the only child… no siblings. Never had that many friends and the boyfriend department, don’t even ask- he just don’t exist on the this planet.  I can say that I switch back and forth from being introvert and extrovert.  I had to take a step back from the fashion and address some things that have been heavy on my heart. Enjoying the Simple Thing in Life So here is the story and how I got to a happy place from a pineapple. So 5 days prior to all of this happiness in these pictures I learn that I only had few dollars left in my bank account. I was so hurt because I still needed to pay a couple a bills and the due date was right around the corner. I honestly did not know what to do. I called my mom crying on the phone because I knew I messed up ! I was having to much fun and  not watching my money. Wow can you believe it ! The months are going by so fast. May has been a great month for Fashionlayn.  I got a chance to hang out with Eloquii and celebrate the new store opening at Twelve Oaks Mall. In addition, I went to a few other events. I got a chance to try on high end clothes with 11 Honore and Jadore Detroit, and I got center with Femology and Lululemon. I had a blast this month. Networking with other women and brands really put me in a better mind state.  I feel more confident now to reach out to brand. Also I feel like Fashionlayn is finally making a small dent. So it is time to get the ball rolling. Its June and I am catching up.  I got a lot of things to look forward to this month. More events,  collaborations, and goals that need to be met. Have you heard the phrase… “Doubt kills more dream than failure ever will” ? Yeah I came across this quote on Pinterest and it really got me thinking about self doubt and how easy we can fall to it. Doubt can make you lack confidence in your abilities to accomplish something.  It hold you back from doing great things.  We all were given potential to do something great with our lives. However we still doubt ourselves. Why do you doubt ourselves in the first place ? Fear that we can’t sustain. Habitual doubter – It’s habit – sidenote: it take 21 days to break a habit. We lack the skills or the experiences Not putting the past behind us We believe what others day Surround by people who doubt themselves Comfort Zone/ Complacent All these things can make you doubt yourself. 5 Ways to Hold Yourself Accountable Accountability: Calling yourself out ! Me: Alayna! Myself: Huh lol  Me: Yeah you.. come to the carpet ! We need to talk ! Before I wrote out my goals for March I reflected on the month of February. I noticed that I did not reach any of my personal goals nor was I consistent on my blog. I was thinking and I was coming up with some many excuses as to why I did not achieve my goals or work on my blog enough ! None of it was making sense. As I was pointing  fingers at other things in regards to why I was not being consistent on my blog or reaching my goals… I had three fingers point back at me. Living your truth What does the phrase living your truth mean ? Are you who you say your are.? Are you you being your authentic self. Question is who are you before the world told you who to be ? Living your truth is being your most authentic self in my opinion… that what it means to me. I think it is important to live your truth because who really wants to spend there lives trapped by living up to expectations and definitions. I know we have done it at  some part of our life.  We have lied about who we are and over it time it gets really really easy. Until you wake one day and feel really incomplete ! The older I get the more I understand the phrase move in silence. It that phrase let you now that you got moves, things being plan, execution, and big news .  All those things that let people know that you got some things brewing. But to often I see people typing the phrase move in silence and not actually abiding by the phrase : moveee in silenceee.  You don’t have to tell everybody what you doing sis.
