Casual Thanksgiving Outfit from Ferne Boutique

Hey y’all, how was your weekend? I know for me I had a blast with my mom. My mom and I went to Campus Martius in Downtown Detroit this weekend to take a look at the Christmas tree. Around this time of year the heart of Detroit is lit by big ole evergreen tree from up north. The tree, in my opinion, is more beautiful then the year before. After the tree we took pictures, drank hot cocoa, played card games and went up and down Woodward and shopped down. THATS WHAT WE DO! We love to have fun. Anyway, speaking of the Christmas tree, it always puts me in the holiday day mood each time. Can you believe it, Thanksgiving is on the cusp. Time really flies when your having a good time. I am so ready for all the good food. (I got beans, greens, potatoes, tomatoes…. YOU NAME IT !) Lol I had too. Do you know what you are wearing for Thanksgiving?. With all the food and indulging more and more I like to keep my outfit simple, casual, and COMFORTABLE. I need all the room for my stomach . LOL In this post I will be showing off a chunky knit sweater that I believe is the comfort and cute approach to the holidays.

FashionLayn’s Outfit Deets…..

So a week ago I found myself at Ferne Boutique for an event with Femology. It was a networking event that turn into a shopping extravaganza. Ferne Boutique is a women own business that provides ladies with contemporary clothing and accessories.  Laura, owner of Ferne, is living her dream. Before I go any further, Ferne is plus size friendly y’all. They have a really nice quality collection online too.  While I was there my eye was caught by a mustard color sweater.  Mustard is my favorite color for the fall and winter. It was calling my name …LITERALLY . Before I knew it I was striking poses and voguing in the mirror with the sweater. I think I looked at this sweater 5 times and finally I caved in.

This sweater can be describes as a mustard color sweater with a distressed hem and cable knit stitching style. I am living so much for this sweater because this is exactly what I am looking for when I say comfortable.  It is soft, chunky, warm and over sized one size fit kinda of sweater. I have to say what really pulled me in was the distressed hem and crop like style.  What I really loved the most is that it can easily hide my stomach after I had my extra helping of dressing. LOL  To keep this outfit on the comfortable size I paired the sweater with a stretchy pair of thick black leggings for movement. Lastly to finish off the look I added  my triple buckle ankle boots (my favs), silver/gun metal accent earrings, and pair of yellow tinted sunglasses with black rim.   Little sidenote: If you want to turn up the heat on this look, instead of basic leggings… add a faux leather leggings and nice heel  to top it off.

For this sweater it ran me $54 dollars. Everything else that was added to bring this outfit together, came from my closest.  I do think the sweater is a bit pricey side.  I prefer to spend $54 dollars on complete look. HOWEVER, I do not mind spending money on quality clothing. I mention before on previous blog post that it is okay to splurge on quality clothing that you know it going to last and timeless. That is just my opinion.

Ferne Boutique was giving me all the tea on the latest contemporary  fall /winter styles. If you find yourself in Detroit or Bay City, MI do not hesitate to stop by the store.  Say HI to Laura and her staff. Have fun ! The different pieces in the store are amazing. Also, if you can’t make it to Michigan, thats okay- you can always do a little online shopping !
